We are a member of The Shatzel Group of restaurants which features ABV, Brennan’s Bowery, Coles, Colter Bay, Moor Pat, The Marcy Casino, The Terrace at Delaware Park, and Thin Man Brewery. We are nestled inside the Buffalo Navy and Serviceman Park, at the original Terminus of the Historic Erie Canal. As Canal Side continues to develop as a regional destination, Liberty Hound will be here to provide great food, libations and fun in the sun.
Liberty Hound is Buffalo’s newest waterfront attraction. Located in the Buffalo & Erie County Naval and Military Park right in downtown Buffalo, Liberty Hound features a waterfront patio right next to the USS The Sullivans & USS Little Rock.
Our menu celebrates seafood from across the United States, from a Maine-style lobster roll to a grilled fish taco that wouldn’t be out of place on a San Diego beach.
“The only way you could be closer to Lake Erie is if you donned your swimsuit and went feet first… With your friends, and your rum, and your fish tacos in hand, settle in and enjoy the sun soaked heaven that is a lazy day at The Liberty Hound.”

The deck of this year-old gastro-pub is a fine perch for admiring the beautification of Buffalo’s waterfront, where markets and outdoor yoga share space with the city’s naval museum. Try the Buffalo Bloody, a classic Bloody Mary with chunks of blue cheese, and a bowl of cioppino, an Italian-style fish stew.

1. A sailor who loves liberty more than anything else
They worked when it was time to work and relaxed when it was time to relax. They made call in great ports and small villages, where they played sightseer, ambassador, souvenir shopper and friend to new lands.
Liberty Hounds reveled in the freedom to forget their everyday cares for a bit, enjoy good food and drink and have a few laughs with the people they cared about.
In the Navy, it’s often said that Liberty Hounds were the first ones off the boat and the last ones back on. But this wasn’t because they were troublemakers- it’s because they believed in squeezing every bit of life out of the precious free time they had.
Our restaurant celebrates these sailors and everyone who shares their love of freedom and fun. Time spent at the Liberty Hound is time to remember.
